New

I'm starting a new lifting routine. I used to dabble in the Women's Health Big Book of Exercises Bikini Workout, but it's time for a change.

On Sunday I completed the Hard-Body Workout A. The Bikini Workout had intense exercise in the form of an A and a B. The Hard-Body has fewer sets in the form of A, B and C. So instead of lifting for an hour twice a week, I'll be lifting for about a half hour three times a week. I really liked the workout on Sunday, so I'll let you know how I like Hard-Body B & C.

And since I lifted on Sunday, I also ate protein on Sunday.

Not New.

That would be tofu marinated in sesame garlic sauce tossed with broccoli, carrots, garlic, onion and bok choy. Nom.

Also not new, yesterday I went to Q. Cumbers for lunch with a friend. For those of you who don't know, Q. Cumbers is a very veggie-friendly buffet, featuring a 50-ft. salad bar. Sometimes I go a little overboard.

Veg Pile.

And in a very new kind-of-way, I also went out to eat for dinner last night. I had a work thing, so we ended up going to the Dakota Jazz Club downtown Minneapolis. Wine, live jazz, and an amazing vegetarian option--needless to say it was a lovely Monday night.

Pumpkin Risotto.

They didn't even list a vegetarian option on the menu, it was simply titled, "The Chef's Vegetarian Inspiration." In other words, it's whatever the chef feels like making that night. I was a huge fan of the pumpkin risotto, even though it had a bit too much cheese for what I'm used to.

Did I mention there was live jazz?

View from our booth.

It wasn't until after I got home that I realized why this picture was blurry. I left it on the "indoor close up" mode, rather than changing it to recognize faces. Oops. I guess that's the learning curve of new cameras.

And since my Monday included eating (a lot of) food, consuming wine and staying out late-ish, I ended with ten calming minutes of Vinyasa Yoga before bed.

Questions
  • When's the last time you switched up your workout routine?
  • Would you rather yoga in the morning or at night? Why?
  • Do you ever go to jazz clubs?

  1. I would go a bit overboard too if the food is like that in the buffet, YUM! buffets are hard anyway, I always eat too much but luckily I usually stay at the salad buffet.

  2. Is the hard body workout the one from Jen Heath? Is so, I am doing that one right now.

  3. Your risotto looks delicious... I just made a butternut version of it a few weeks ago and loooved it!

I never switch up my routine because I never find a strength training routine that sticks, haha. 99.9% of my workouts are runs... though I wouldn't mind throwing some PM yoga sessions into the mix.

  6. Pumpkin risotto sounds incredible! Maybe I should breakdown and buy some arborio rice to make it.

  7. Q.cumbers - what a cute name!!

When's the last time you switched up your workout routine? It's been a while - really I need to get a routine going consistently then switch it up!

Would you rather yoga in the morning or at night? Why? I've never yogaed... but i'd assume i'd want evening during the week and afternoons on weekends! (that's when I prefer pilates)

Do you ever go to jazz clubs? No - seems so fun though!

  8. That pumpkin risotto looks amazing! It's nice to see that the chef at that restaurant actually puts effort into providing veggie options, unlike so many other restaurants.

A jazz club sounds like it would be such a fun way to spend an evening. I'd love to check one out sometime!
