Feast

After what felt like the longest week of my life, Friday night the girls gathered to feast. Since I was cooking, it was a Chinese Feast.

The Tofu.

I'm the only vegetarian in my group of friends, but how cool is it that they let me make an entirely vegetarian dinner? Seriously. They all wanted tofu and not chicken. Well, except for one, but she brought some leftover steak to meat-ify her meal. Which is still cool.

The Veggies.

Deep-fried cream cheese pouffies.

 Steamed Veggie Eggrolls.

 And wine. Of course.

My plate. We'll pretend I just had the one.

It was a wonderful way to end a crazy week. That only lead to a crazy weekend. I left my friend's house around 8 o'clock on Saturday morning. Everyone else stayed. And then it snowed. A lot. I was safe and sound at home, but everyone else was stuck at my friend's. Until Sunday.

In case you haven't heard, Minnesota got slammed with snow. Yes. Slammed. With seventeen inches, my friends. Seventeen inches of snow.

 My car.

I wish I was kidding. But no. That was my car as of yesterday. Notice the entire front hood is under snow. Yeah, I had to deal with that. Speaking of dealing with, according to the weather, it's -4 degrees right now. But with windchill, -21. For my Canadian readers, that's -30 C. Why do I live here?

Questions
  • Does it snow where you live? Does it snow a lot?
  • What did you do this weekend?
  • Which sounds better, deep fried cream cheese pouffies or steamed eggrolls?

  1. they BOTH sounds great... (did you make the pouffies??) I'll say egg rolls, that was my first reaction.

it snows here, but never that much down here... our mountains + ski resorts get awesome snow :D

however, this weekend our river crested the banks and came up into our yard. not fun, too close for my comfort, especially with a curious dachshund that could just get whisked away. it's back down to normal levels now *whew*.

  3. WOW! What a great meal! You rock for putting that on. I cannot believe how much snow y'all got. It rarely ever snows in SC. And those steamed eggrolls sound pretty amazing to me. 4. ... and I thought I had problems. Yep, you win!

Your dinner looks AMAZING. The only Chinese I've ever even attempted is fried rice, haha. Don't think it could get much more foolproof than that!

  9. It looks like you got hit with the same storm cloud we did last week. ;) I thought it might settle down after that, but now we're supposed to get even more snow!

Looks like an awesome feast! I'm definitely an eggroll person. I've never tried steamed ones though! I bet they're a lot healthier than the fried ones I usually get haha.

  13. Oo nothing better than dinner parties with friends! It's really cool they accept your vegetarian ways too, I am sure it makes things easier and more enjoyable for you. I ask myself the same thing about living in MN haha. I am pretty sure everyone does when snow comes down like this. It's gonna be a harsh winter unfortunately :-( Boo!

17" of snow is crazy! I don't think we got that much, but we definitely have our fair share here in Michigan. :)
